In general, open source refers to any program whose source code is made available for use and as such the user or the developers can modify the program if they want to.(Hoare, 1974) A good example is Linux, FreeBSD, and OpenBSD and NetBSD. Proprietary operating system on the other hand cannot be modified by the user or the developers. Such programs include windows and OS X (Hoare, 1974). hybrid operating system on the other hand allocate two sets of resources, n in which each of the allocated operating system can have a memory manager, the hybrid operating system allows one operating system to provide one set of service while and the second set to provide a second set of service.
Operating system upgrade is very important, this is for the reason that operating system updates checks on the security vulnerability fixes, bug fixes and enhancements (Quigleyet.al, 2009). As such it is good to mention that the updates not only improve the pc performance but also protect against cyber attack.
The main reason I will pick windows over OSX operating system is because windows has a much larger ecosystem of available software than OS X. (Quigleyet.al, 2009).Windows also has a better user interface than the OS X. as such it is easier to understand windows when it comes to presentation. when we look at the hardware advantage the OS X ecosystem relies heavily on buffing .apple only make a specific software only for specific platform which translate to much challenges both in implementation and support. This is as opposed to windows which support massive number of platforms.(Quigleyet.al, 2009).
The other reason why we could not choose OS X is because windows provide has a huge set of programs that is developing day by day while on the other hand(Quigley et.al ,2009)., OS X focuses on centralized on centralized stores for applications.
On the company side, windows are reasonably cheaper and more user satisfaction as compared to OS X, better user interface as new users can easily navigate the start menu and are much ,ore intuitive and is also good to add that the PC becomes more intelligent (Quigley et.al ,2009).
The healthcare current operating system is windows seven and we are proposing an upgrade to windows ten .the main reasons why I would recommend the upgrade to windows 10 is because of performance (Gude et al, 2008). The boot time of windows ten compared to 7 is much quicker, has better hardware acceleration and a host to other tweaks mean that the navigation will feel much nipper, the power management will also be improved as much mobile device such as battery will tend to last longer (Gude et al, 2008).
The design aspect of windows ten is important. This is because windows seven has flat and bold colors while the upgrade to windows ten will provide a three dimensional looking icon that has round edged and transparent windows. In addition to the flat and bold styling that is taking over the desktop and other core system features (Gude et al, 2008). The benefits of the new design such as the windows being smaller due to lack of borders, the windows are customizable, and the translucent background makes some elements clearer this therefore means that windows10 has more modern feel than windows 7 (Gude et al, 2008).
In addition to the benefits stated above, there are many more advantages of upgrading to windows 10 such as file copying interface this therefore means that the upgrade will provide improved search, ,file management, new start menu and is generally faster (Gude et al, 2008)..
When it is important to carry out operating system, standardization should also be taken into consideration for the following reason; to avoid compatibilities problems, improve communication and to reduce the burden on the IT staff (Gude et al, 2008).
