Introduction
1.1 Background of the Study
The definition of new technology is changing day by day in recent years. New technology and
media are used as a term to mean every component that is connected to the internet and a direct
connection between sound, image, text, and technology (Hin & Subramaniam, 2011). Social
media and cloud computing are the two latest form of new technology which has already been
expanded all over the world. Different elements of new technology such as social media and
cloud computing intersect together to develop the process of education all over the world
(Douglas, 2002). Internet and the components of new technology such as social media and cloud
computing are extensively used technological tools which supports to hasten cost reduction,
information sharing and accessibility in an educational institution but the potential of social
media and cloud computing in terms of education has not been totally applied (Hoffman, Novak
and Peterson, 1997). In recent times every activity from education to business activity has been
transformed from physical reality to digital and virtual reality (Berisha-Namani, 2010). Now the
students can connect directly to the cloud servers for information and study materials, they can
also use social media to gather important information related to their study and can easily
connect with their teachers. (Casteels, 1999).
1.2 Scope of the Study
The research will consist of the students of accounting and business department of Nova College.
The respondents will be selected randomly from the students of these two departments. Among
numerous issues prompting the development of the students of Nova College, the research will
clarify the impact of social media and cloud computing on the development of the students of
Nova College.
1.3 Statement of the Problem
In recent times almost, every student of different college and universities prefer the use of social
media and cloud computing in order to develop and ease their way of studying. Several issues
impact the development of the students of Nova College, among them, social media and cloud
computing are one of the most significant features which affect the development of the students.
Some challenges and drawbacks of using social media and cloud computing exist. This research
looks to identify the factors of social media and cloud computing which impact the development
of the students of Nova College
1.4 Research Aim and Objectives
The research paper aims to explain the impact of social media and cloud computing on the
development of the students of Nova College. This research will concentrate on the insights of
the students towards social media and cloud computing and the usefulness of social media and
cloud computing on the development of the students of Nova College. The precise objectives of
the research are given below.
1. To determine factors/components of social media and cloud computing which are
essential for the students.
2. To identify the student’s anticipation from social media and cloud computing.
3. To identify the key challenges of using social media and cloud computing in the study.
4. To show the impact of social media and cloud computing on the development of the
students.
1.5 Organization of the Study
The research will begin by providing a background of the study, scope of the research, statement
of the problem and identifying the aim and objectives of the research in the introductory chapter.
At the end of the first chapter, an overview of how the total research paper will be arranged has
been given. The previous studies, literature, journals which has been conducted on the relevant
topic will be discussed in chapter two. The third chapter includes the sources from which data
has been collected, methods of gathering data, population and sample, the techniques to be used
in analyzing data etc. The fourth chapter will provide a detailed analysis of all the collected data
with the necessary explanations. The last chapter will conclude the research by providing a
precise summary of the whole research project along with the findings of the analysis, limitations
of the research and the area of further research on this relevant field.
Research Methodology
3.1 Introduction
Research methodology is one of the most integral portions of a research work. The research
methodology chapter discusses the general belief and viewpoints depending on which this
research will be completed. The use of the accurate methodology for a research paper determines
the relevance and reliability of the research paper. The use of improper and inappropriate
methodology interrupts the feasibility of a research paper. All the sources from which the
relevant data for the research will be collected are stated in the methodology chapter. In the very
beginning of this chapter, the research approach for this particular research has been described.
After that, the parameters of measurement and the measurement criteria for the research has been
explained. The variables which are selected for the research has been discussed in the further part
of the chapter. Sources of data collection are described in the later part of the research and then
next to that part, sample size, population and types of respondents have been specified. In the
further part of the chapter, the data analysis techniques which will be used to analyze the
gathered data has been defined. The aim of this research is to This research aims to discover the
consistency, legitimacy, and generalizability of the objectives of the research. In order to prepare
a successful research paper, a certain ethical standard should be maintained. So, the methodology
part also includes an ethical stance section. The chapter has been concluded providing a precise
summary of the major theme if the chapter.
3.2 Research Approach
Both qualitative and quantitative research has been used for the analysis of this research paper.
The qualitative approach has been used to show the demographic details of the respondents. The
qualitative approach will also be used to analyze the perception of the participants which will be
gathered by using the interview method. The connection between social media and cloud
computing and the development of the students of Nova College will be identified using a
quantitative approach. Both the qualitative and quantitative method will be used to show the
impact of social media and cloud computing on the development of the students of Nova
College. Quantitative data has been used to evaluate the thoughts and viewpoints of targets
participants in this research. Frequency distribution and multiple regression analysis of the
variables have been used as a quantitative analysis.
3.3 Data and Sources
3.3.1 Sources
As the research is unique in nature, relevant data required for the research has been obtained
from various sources. Some researches have been directed on the chosen topic of “impact of
social media and cloud computing on the development of the students of Nova College” and the
concepts relevant to this study. A certain portion of the data will be gathered from previous
literature and journals of the different author which has been conducted on the relevant topic but
a significant portion of the data will be obtained through survey and interview method. A
Questionnaire will be developed on the relevant topic and given to the students to fill up. And
some of the respondents will be interviewed to gather detailed knowledge about the topic.
3.3.2 Items and Measurement (Factors/Variables)
The study has recognized one dependent variable which is the development of the students of
Nova College and four independent variables which includes cost reduction, communication,
information accessibility, and data stores. The independent variables are components of social
media and cloud computing.
3.3.3 Population and Sample
The demographic profile of the student of accounting and business department of Nova College
will be displayed in the research. The selected participants will be examined to find out their
thoughts on the impact of social media and cloud computing on the development of the students
of Nova College. The targeted respondents cover students from business and accounting
department of Nova College. Total 30 students will be selected as the sample size, 15 of which
are from the accounting department and the other 15 are from the business department of Nova
College.
3.3.4 Questionnaire Design
For the nature of the analysis, a survey questionnaire will be settled to recognize the opinions
and views of the students of Nova College towards social media and cloud computing. The
questions will be a mixture of general analysis about the respondents and about their judgment
on the impact of social media and cloud computing on the development of the students of Nova
College. In order to measure the scale of significance few questions will be designed in ranking
from 1 to 5 to and some open-ended questions will be developed to interview the respondents.
3.4 Data Analysis Techniques
Only those data which are relevant to the research will be presented in the research paper. The
demographic information of the respondents and other qualitative data will be displayed by using
a pie chart, bar chart and frequency tables. The data which has been obtained from the survey
method will be analyzed using multiple regression analysis. Microsoft Excel and SPSS will be
used in this research to analyze the data collected through the survey method.
3.5 Regression Model
A multiple regression analysis will be conducted in order to present the cause-effect relationship
between the dependent and the independent variables. The multiple regression model for the

3.6 Ethical Stance
The ethical issues related to every stage of analysis will be maintained with proper care. The
questionnaire will be accepted by the supervisor before going to collect data using it. The
permission will be from all the selected participants before inquiring them. The privacy of the
participants will be pledged with high security and their answers will be kept unaltered in the
analysis.
