Having worked as a case manager, many patients have recovered quickly. This occurs due to the conducive environment have created for them. By meeting with the person as required in various settings such as the client’s home, a coffee shop, and workplace, enables us to address their challenges effectively. Have worked with people to access the services they wish like medical care and psychosocial rehabilitation in areas such as acquiring new skills, finding jobs, strengthening and establishing relationships. A part from offering the above services I also offer counseling or working with the person in particular areas of the individual’s choice such as in overcoming addictions or re-establishing family relationships.
My personal strengths and areas in need of development in relation to becoming a proficient social member of staff include; research, critical thinking, clinical skills, and writing. The paramount scope of work for social workers includes collection of statistics about populations, employ the use statistical software to perform the analysis, use scientific and empirical research methodologies, publish scholastic reports, and partake in scholastic research seminars. Acquiring great knowledge in this area enables us to deliver services effectively.
Secondly, Critical thinking requires the analysis of situations based on a goal-oriented viewpoint. We can interpret data you have acquired using different quantitative and qualitative research methodologies such as observation, interviews with clients or print media, and apply this to our practice. Self-reflection and an open-minded attitude are essential for enhancing one’s social work. Additionally, an open mind is essential when analyzing personal inhibitions and environmental influences to ensure that they do not impede in the execution of one’s duties and responsibilities as a social worker.
Thirdly, clinical skills are essential for enhancing the practice of social work for application in all facets including relations with clients, creation, and implementation of strategies and policies, and treating people for psychological and physical issues. A social worker employs the use of a multiplicity of skills, competencies, and knowledge to ensure that their clients can manage and resolve the social issues afflicting them. Being a social worker enables me to be physically involved in the outside world as it is not a typical desk job that needs me to be sitting around in the office all day.
