Music and How It Has Impacted My Life
Music is life. It is something that requires no introduction. For several years, music has been a key part of my life. I am always that smiley person, and the phrase “happy as a lark” has been used in my case over and over. During my childhood days, I was part of a family whose members were music lovers. My parents, for instance, enjoyed listening to Michael Jackson’s music and more of country music that was gradually loved by every member of the family. Growing older, music has remained a part of me. It gradually became more meaningful to me, and this helped me to develop my own taste of music. I started coming across songs that were more interesting and soothing than others. I also started realizing that I admired and preferred certain singers to others. At adolescence, I listened more to rhythm and blues with Van Morrison as my favorite. I loved his poetic lyrics and looked up to him as a person. Some of the Morrison’s song that excited me whenever I listened to them include These Are The Days, Have I Told You Lately, Days LikeThis, I’m Not Feelin It Anymore, and others. His songs were passionately about love and life in general.
As I grew older, I developed great love and passion for rhythm and blues. To me, music was an expansive world that needed exploration. I believed that with music, I could discover who I actually was and use it to express myself on many occasions. I loved finding and listening to bands and musicians that specialized in the rhythm and blues genre. I could buy several copies of new music that was released and keep collections in my small bedroom. I kept adding more not only to enjoy on my own but also to show to my family and other close friends. Listening to music became a hobby for me. Through listening to music, I usually felt inspired. Music was also like a teacher to me. It guided me throughout my life and enabled me to adopt behaviors that were acceptable to me and those around me. I also felt that I was free to do whatever I wanted to do in my life. I felt happy, and I still do when listening to music. There is no doubt that it is one of my favorite things to do in life.
I often feel a sense of freedom and independence when I can choose whatever music I am in the mood to listen to. Music has helped me to express myself and identify my personality. It has given me the ability to be an individual with my own taste and stand.I believe that there is nothing better in life than having your own stand. People have respect for a person with their own stand in various contexts, and I have music to thank for this. My music story cannot be complete without a mention of the piano lessons I have taken since I was a child. Playing the piano itself was and still is exciting. It has completely changed my perception and thoughts about music. I feel that the best music must entail playing the piano at some point or throughout. Listening to my favorite singers and bands has made me feel as though I can choose music that reflects who I am. I love that music has allowed me to be myself regardless of the opinions, thoughts, and perceptions others have of me. Whenever I choose my favorite music in any context, I choose it for myself without considering what others will say. I cannot thank music enough as it has gradually molded me from a shy and quiet person to a vibrant and cheerful individual. Whenever I listen to music, I cannot stop singing along cheerfully and vibrantly. That I have been in conflicts with family members, and close friends over this cannot be understated.
For several years, music has been an outlet for my emotions. I usually listen to my favorite music whenever I feel sad, frightened, afraid, or frustrated. Music is comforting to me, and it reassures me that everything will be okay. Whenever I am happy, music has always given me a reason and way to celebrate and express happiness. Music has been my friend for several years, and it continues to be there for me. I am happy that it has never left my side during the good and bad times. It has helped me to discover myself as an individual and express myself freely. It has brought me happiness and joy in life, and I would not trade it for anything. I am sure that regardless of the changes in my life, music will always remain a part of me. Music's impact on my life is unexplained and incredible. As time goes, it will only get better and more of a close friend than it is now.
