Discipleship entails one to be a servant of Christ and humanity. When Jesus went to the mountain for transfiguration to occur, he called on Peter, James, and John, and they obeyed and followed Him (Mark 9:2). Again, as they descended from the mountain, He told them not to reveal the events that had occurred on the mountain to anyone but only after His death and resurrection (Mark 9:9).
Jesus was a spiritual leader, and a real disciple should havehad faith in His teachings. “You unbelieving generation, how long shall I staywith you? How long shall I put up with you?” (Mark 9:19). In discipleship, there’s no seniority. On their way to Capernaum, disciples had an argument as to whom was senior. “But they kept quiet becauseon the way they had argued about whowas the greatest” (Mark 9:34).
Discipleship calls for sacrifice, Jesus taught that anyone who is a devout follower of His teachings should shun luxuries and serve humanity.Jesus claimed that it would behard for those who are rich to enter the kingdom come (Mark 10:23).
