Discipleship entails one to be a servant of Christ and humanity. When Jesus went to the mountain for transfiguration to occur, he called on Peter, James, and John and they obeyed and followed Him (Mark 9:2). Again, as they descended from the mountain, He told them not to reveal the events that had occurred on the mountain to anyone but only after His death and resurrection (Mark 9:9). Jesus was a spiritual leader, and a real disciple should have faith in His teachings” O unbelieving generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I put up with you?” (Mark 9:19). In discipleship there’s no seniority, on their way to Capernaum, Disciples had an argument as to whom was senior. “But they kept silent, for on the way they had discussed with one another which of them was the greatest” (Mark 9:34).
Discipleship calls for sacrifice, Jesus taught that if anyone is a devout follower of His teachings, should shun luxuries and serve humanity “How hard it will be for those who are rich to enter the kingdom of God!” (Mark 10:23).
