Sample Research Paper on Research Methods and Statistics

Part III

Kaelbling’s research question focuses its attention on methods of learning to achieve goals. Furthermore, this research question is comparable to the one asked by Bechtoldt et al in the sense that the question focuses its attention on information processing and group creativity.

Cameron and Pierce utilize a meta-analysis method to evaluate their research question. In contrast, the other authors utilize different quantitative research methods to evaluate their research questions. Bechtoldt et al conducted an experimental study whereas Gelona conducted interviews to evaluate his research question. Bengtsson, Lau, and Passingham equally conducted an experimental study like Kaelbling did. The studies have theoretical backgrounds that match the method used.

After conducting their study, Cameron and Pierce established that reward system did not decrease intrinsic motivation (Cameron, & Pierce, 1994). Kaelbling established that DC learning method was superior to Q learning method in achieving goals (Kaelbling, n.d). Bengtsson, Lau, and Passingham, on their part established that the motivated group was careful not to make mistakes than the group that was not motivated (Bengtsson, Lau, & Passingham, 2009). Bechtoldt et al established that motivation varied from one culture to the other (Bechtoldt et al., 2010). Gelona established that people that focused their attention on the factors that motivated them were more likely to be highly motivated than their counterparts that did not focus their attention on self-motivation (Gelona, 2011). Lastly, Lockwood, Jordan and Kunda established that role models were likely to motivate other people (Lockwood, Jordan, & Kunda, 2002). These findings point toward employee motivation even if their approaches are slightly different.

Overall, the articles are related to one another in the sense that they focus their attention on employee motivation. However, Kaelbling’s article is a bit far-fetched because rather than focusing its attention on employee motivation directly, it focuses its attention on the methods that can be used to motivate employees to achieve goals.

Cameron and Pierce try to establish the extent at which reward systems increase or decrease intrinsic motivation. This research question is comparable to the one asked by Gelona in the sense that Gelona’s research question focuses its attention on employee motivation. Furthermore, the research question is comparable to the research question asked by Lockwood, Jordan and Kunda because of the same reason. On the other hand, Bengtsson, Lau, and Passingham focus their attention on minimizing errors through self-regulation methods. This research question is comparable to the one asked by Kaelbling in the sense that
