A prayer can be defined as that relation, wherein one meekly communicates, worships, and candidly seeks God’s intervention (Rice and Tom 97). When developing an explicit idea on the reasons behind prayers, one must first comprehend the biblical description of prayer and God. From the scriptures, God is characterized as being kind and caring explaining why most people believe that prayers really work. However, some people still don’t whether praying works and the exact reasons if any for say prayers. One of the primary reasons for questioning the realism attached to prayers is the doubt on whether the said devotions get answered by God (Rice and Tom 98). Praying doesn’t entail making a demand but rather requesting the deity to listen to such supplications and act appropriately. When we pray, we are not guaranteed of a world without any suffering neither is it an opportunity to show off.
Proponents believes that God actually listen to prayers made out of faith, and that with immense love, such petitions will be responded to. Prayers can entail a range of issues such as making confessions, praising, adoring and interceding among other inherent issues (Rice and Tom 98). To most believers, praying is arguably one of the most covert aspect of their walk in faith. This is attributed to the fact that they occasionally wonder whether such prayers are really attended to by God. However, praying should out of gratitude and a strong desire to fully understand how God really operates. We should view prayers as a privilege to get to know God more and approach Him with our requests (Rice and Tom 99). It’s a like a pathway used in making a comprehensible communication with God done out of love and faith. Just like close friends and relations often spends moments conversing with an aim of deepening their bonds, prayer aims at extending how we relate with God (Lewis and Clive 6).
Through prayers, the gap between the human race and God is linked considerably and as such, should be made liberally and confidently. Another reason for praying is that it is a direct command by God in the scriptures, and that prayers should be part of our daily lives. A prayers can both be an intimate communication with God and a corporate event in that it gives us an insight into who He really is (Lewis and Clive 7). Prayers are also made as a form of acknowledging our reliance upon God and a way of saying ‘thank you’. Praying is also a way of providing service to God and as a sign of obedience and following His will. When faced with certain difficult decisions to make, approaching God with such supplications eases the burden and makes one to be more optimistic.to most Christians, prayer was specifically ordained by God as part of His plan for executing His will upon the human race (Lewis and Clive 9).
Correspondingly, gives us the strength to stand and to passionately discern the evil powers according to most proponents. Humility, one of the most crucial feature imparted upon us by God can only be attained through praying without ceasing (Lewis and Clive 11). Through prayer, He reminds the human race that He is in firm control of whatever situation we may be passing through, thus shielding us from unnecessary pride and arrogance. In addition, through prayers, our emotional needs are fulfilled given that our relationship with Him will improve a notch higher and we will feel comforted and confident irrespective of the situation we might be passing through.
Reasons to believe that God will answer one’s prayers
Having a strong relationship with God through prayers will eventually lead to our prayers being answered (Long, Diane, David, and Bernard 102). One must first strengthen this relationship with Him and believe in the possibility of the supplications being listened to and eventually answered by God. Imagine one approaching a stranger to make a business deal with him. If the two doesn’t know each other at personal levels, then any deal is less likely to ensue. The same happens with God as He knows and hears prayers but without an establish relationship through persistent and honest prayers, then our prayers may take time to answered. God definitely answers prayers provided that one remains true to Him and listen to His teachings (Long, Diane, David, and Bernard 104). Another reason God will answer our petitions is when we firmly believe and have extreme hope in Him.
When your faith is unwavering as commanded in the scriptures, then He has all the reasons to listen and answer such prayers (Long, Diane, David, and Bernard 106). Everyday concession of iniquities committed in the course of our daily life encounters will also prompt God to answer our prayers. Living according to His will and doing as He commands entails believing without questioning and doing what is right and at the right moment. This incorporates living a holy life and sticking to the teachings and doctrines of the deity. With these, one should be assured of answered prayers and a relatively smooth life (Long, Diane, David, and Bernard 108). Studying God’s word and being thorough on His instructions and beliefs are some of His wish for the human race. These draws us near to Him and consequently results into our prayers being answered by God (Long, Diane, David, and Bernard 109). Being at peace with oneself and with one another will have our prayers getting our desired answers by God.
Being persistent in prayers and sticking to His doctrines and commands are also among the reasons why our prayers eventually get answered. When one is living for God (living according to His commandments and divine will), God will most likely answer the prayers from such a heart. All one has to do is to believe and trust that all prayers made are listened to by God and that an answer, irrespective of how long it might take will eventually come out. Prayer is like this gift from God to Him children that is meant to propel their spiritual lives to greater heights and to develop a viable relationship with God (Long, Diane, David, and Bernard 111).
God is very clear from the scriptures on the significance of praying and doing so persistently with hope and strong belief. Through prayers, one will feel entirely dependent on God and will be willing to observe His doctrines. Getting the answers from God on our supplications also requires patience given that only Him knows when the time is best to answer the prayers. Prayers are specifically predestined by God and intended to be as means through which one can directly converse with God. Prayers has a special purpose in one’s life and cannot be taken for granted whatsoever. When we pray expecting prompt results, our conviction and faith in Him should be high to guarantee an answer from Him.
