.I agree with the American Association of Colleges of Nursing that the baccalaureate degree in nursing should be the lowest preparation for nursing practitioners. Considering that the health care sector has undergone various changes in recent time, there is a need to increase the effectiveness of nursing practitioners. The current healthcare unit has totally shifted from being hospital centered to a fundamental preventive care unit in the society. Due to its diversity, the heath care sector requires practitioners who can effectively work in these multiple settings. Therefore, as a result, it is a good step for the American Association of Colleges of Nursing to raise the entry level to the professional field to require a baccalaureate degree. This will equip the practitioners with the required knowledge for execution of the increased responsibilities(“American Association of Colleges of Nursing” n.d.).
Upon pursuing this BSN program, I have realized that the roles of nursing practitioners are very many, as I never expected. Previously, I thought that the roles of nursing practitioners were only limited to providing care to patients at hospitals. However, this is not the case; they entail providing all sorts of care to the community at large from any point(“Role of the clinical nurse leader,” 2007). Besides, upon acquiring sufficient information and knowledge, my attitude towards the nursing career has been positively influenced. I like carrying out practical sessions in a real set up. I have realized the significance of practical sessions in my career. Currently, I do not have fear towards handling various duties in my career. Therefore, the BSN program is very important in enhancing effectiveness in the health care sector.
