Abstract

The level of efficiency in the nursing profession is affected by the quality of the learning-teaching process that defines the process of knowledge acquisition for undergraduate nurse. The quality of the professionals emanating from nursing institutions does not only depend on the interaction between the professor and student. Instead, the approach given in the delivery of the curriculum will affect the process of acquiring expected knowledge. The application of continuous quality enhancement approaches in nursing profession can be essential in the identification of the strength and opportunities that enhance the quality of eductaion programs. To address the challenges arising from low quality teaching-learning experiences, it will be important to train component professional who understand the nursing curriculum and have the ability to relate it to the dynamics of the society.

Introduction

In the nursing profession, Justas in any other field there are growing concerns on the need to improve on the quality of eductaion with regard to the ability of the students to respond to the dynamic social needs that define the society (Bloom et al, 2013). The realization of this objective emanates from the need by institution of higher learning to institute paradigm changes focused on the acquisition of competencies that encourage life lone learning. The level of efficiency in the nursing profession is affected by the quality of the learning-teaching process that defines the process of knowledge acquisition for undergraduate nurse. This affects their ability to transfer knowledge acquired on the academic platform into the practical world hence affecting the overall levels of effectiveness in nursing. The main objective of this study will is to assess the effect of the teaching leading process on nurses. In addition, the study will also develop proposed solutions to handling this challenge

The quality of teaching- lewarning process and its effect on the nursing profession

The objective of the nursing curricula is to provide students with quality management models in the form of course content ensure the production qualified and competent professionals in healthcare (Bloom et al, 2013). The provision of safe and quality care does not only exist as a mandate of the nursing professionals but as a right   of the patients. The main problem with the quality of the teaching-learning process in the nursing profession lies with its inability to provide students and the professors with dynamic and satisfactory skills and knowledge in the provision of quality care. This limits their ability to be active and creative especially when dealing with emerging health care concerns. Their ineffectiveness in responding and dealing with current and future health care demands threatens the existence of the healthcare industry with regard to the provision of quality and relevant medical care. It is therefore possible to develop the thought that the quality of nursing eductaion has an effect on the quality of medical care and professional development (Bloom et al, 2013). The quality of the professionals emanating from nursing institutions does not only depend on the interaction between the professor and student. Instead, the approach given in the delivery of the curriculum will affect the process of acquiring expected knowledge. Poor teaching methodologies arising from the implementation of curricula translates to incompetent nursing professional in terms of their ability to deliver timely and relevant services to the patients.

Innovation is considered as an essential aspect in the improvement of the quality of medical care in the nursing profession. This is because currently the society is characterized by numerous technological innovations aimed at enhancing the delivery of medical services. However, in the nursing profession, the main challenge is often in the inability of the professional to engage in effective operationalization of the technology (Bloom et al, 2013). Part of the problem emanates from the curriculum whose design and implementation is dependent on the existing technological devices. These devices do not provide a future oriented approach in improving the application of technology in the delivery of medical services (Kong et al, 2014). For hospital facilities, this is considered as a relatively expensive approach considering that fresh graduates from the universities have to be trained and exposed to different technological apparatus. The inability of the nursing curriculum to integrate technology and the theoretical aspect of the profession makes it ineffective in the production of competent professionals (Kong et al, 2014)

Proposed strategies in resolving the issue

Quality eductaion in nursing profession can be considered a possibility through constant revision of the curriculum. The process of revising the curriculum will require an integration of the welfare quality problems and the training problems, which necessitate the demand for change in the eductaion of these professionals (Bloom et al, 2013). The application of continuous quality enhancement approaches in nursing profession can be essential in the identification of the strength and opportunities that enhance the quality of eductaion programs. For instance, the introduction of accreditation programs can facilitate the establishment of indicators related to different testing criterion in the profession hence an improvement to the quality of clinical practice (Kowitlawakul et al, 2015).

The curriculum in the nursing profession is defined by the availability of assessment tools necessary in the measuring its success in relation to the objectives of the process. However, through constant improvement in the quality of the teaching and learning process, it will be possible for the higher eductaion institution in nursing to develop indicators (Kong et al, 2014). These allow for the identification of possible techniques that can be used in the improvement of the delivery of the course while ate same time ensuring the application of action based results in nursing related research initiatives. This will improve on the relevance of the eductaion process with regard to the prevailing health concerns in the society (Kong et al, 2014).    

The efficiency and effectiveness of the nursing curriculum is dependent on the ability of the teaching fraternity to ensure adequate and competent delivery of the content. To address the challenges arising from low quality teaching learning experiences, it will be important to train component professional who understand the nursing curriculum and have the ability to relate it to the dynamics of the society (Kong et al, 2014). The existence of component professional in the nursing faculty will improve on the delivery of the content with regard to the acquisition of skills and capabilities that allow nurses to respond to the current and future demand in the health sector (Kowitlawakul et al, 2015).

The process of realizing an improvement in the nursing curriculum involves the stages of planning, performing, assessing, and acting. An improvement in the quality of the teaching learning process can be ensured tin the assessment stage (Kowitlawakul et al, 2015). Through this process, it will be possible for the stakeholders to monitor and evaluate the ability of the nursing curriculum to realize relevant objectives. The process of assessing the relevance of this approach towards improving the quality of education in nursing will ensure that the relevance of other elements such as technological innovation are incorporated as part of the teaching learning process to transform professional practice in nursing (Kowitlawakul et al, 2015).

The main problem with the quality of the teaching-learning process in the nursing profession lies with its inability to provide students and the professors with dynamic and satisfactory skills and knowledge in the provision of quality care. The efficiency and effectiveness of the nursing curriculum is dependent on the ability of the teaching fraternity to ensure adequate and competent delivery of the content.
