Safety Management

Safety in the work place is a vital action that guides the functionality and operational effectiveness of the plant. This safety encompasses not only that of the employees, but also of the surrounding community, the environment, the product, and the factory or plant. However, industry experts have differentiated accidents occurring within the plant has not been a part of the safety management plan (Caddies, 2008). Therefore, for so long as no employee is hurt, injured, or killed within the work place, then the company considers itself as promoting safety measures within the work place. This notion is misconstrued since it is shallow and focuses on only one part of a large safety management system.

Contrastingly, companies that do not experience work place injuries indicate effective measures and adherence to occupational health and safety of its workers. This is because every company has a procedure of assessing and training its workers work output about safety. Their handling of hazardous materials is constantly being monitored and controlled to ensure that their safety is maintained (Caddies, 2008). Additionally, their handling and training on use and operation of plant machinery is vital in preventing accidents. This lack of worker injuries can be attributed to effective safety management through policies and frameworks for enhancing safety. The accidents that occurred within the plants could be due to machine error or malfunction, rather than human error or failure, which could be the reason for a lack of employee fatalities. Therefore, in spite of fatalities occurring outside the plant, the safety standards and measures for the company can be considered as being adequately followed. It is thus plausible to classify the company without employee fatalities as being safe, but only to its internal workers, rather than the community.
