According to Maxwell, the idea of leadership in any organization is a calling that almost everyone gets. Most of this leadership according to him should be done from the middle. The book goes on to give some of the characteristics that a leader ought to have. The myth that one gets to lead only when at the top is not right. Leadership is more of the influence one gets rather than the position they occupy. That said it is important to remember to start growing into being a leader before taking the top position to gain the experience beforehand. He points out that the higher one gets, the more limited they become, and they tend to get less freedom. Getting to the top is not the only position one takes the opportunity to lead is a concept covered in the book. The idea of challenges in the leadership position is another concept covered.
The ideas presented here to shape the very misconceptions about leadership. It acts as a manual for the leaders and management in their daily activities. There applications if tested will work. Humility and hard work is a concept that was very true. The idea that talent without hard work is not productive is a point on a real statement. The practical approach taken in this presentation touches on the management. It is not, however, to say that the book exhausted every aspect of the Directorate. Management as a concept evolves every day.
