Research Project #2: Research Proposal

Research Project #2: Research Proposal

The research proposal contains all of the essential elements necessary to conduct your study. Your proposal should be approximately 8 pages long (4-5 pages for the introduction, 2-3 pages for the method, and 1 page for the discussion). You will complete a thorough literature review on your topic and present the information in your introduction. You will identify a gap in the literature, form a question, and state your hypothesis. You will outline a full description of what method you will use to answer your research question, including what design you will use, what materials you will use (i.e., questionnaires, visual stimuli, etc., ), and how many participants you will need. Remember that your project must have at least one manipulated variable. Since the expectation is that you will develop a quantitative experiment you will need data. Your TA is going to provide you will mock data, a data point for each one of your participants. In order for your TA to be able to generate the data you must take care in providing your TA with a range of typical values for your data. You will get to know this from your literature review. Remember when you are constructing your questionnaire your values should reflect these common ranges. You cannot provide a questionnaire with values ranging from 1 to 7 and then report that a typical mean in this area would be 25. The module titled “Research Project Proposal” has essential information about completing this critical component of your project. It also has information that will help you to construct a good questionnaire.

Note: Remember to include a consent form and debriefing form for your proposed study as well as a copy of your ethics checklist and research proposal checklist when you turn in this assignment. Your consent and debriefing forms should be included as appendices. Even though your project is a hypothetical one, it must be considered to be feasible and minimal risk. Your TA cannot approve your project or provide you with data unless it meets these requirements and includes all of the necessary Proposals that are handed in incomplete will also have marks deducted accordingly.

This part of your research project is due at 11:55 p.m. on the Sunday at the end of week 6 of this course. Use the Research Project #2: Research Proposal to submit your research outline.
