Integrity and Leadership Assignment Description

Leadership and integrity are characteristics professional nurses must hold. In this paper, you will explore the responsibility of the professional nurse in leadership situations as well as maintaining integrity and nursing conduct. The state Board of Nursing investigates and invokes disciplinary action to those nurses who violate these standards.

Your expository paper should include the following:

– An introduction

– A body with three parts that discuss the leadership role of the professional nurse, the nurse’s’ responsibilities related to maintaining integrity and nurse conduct, and a discussion of at least three ways nurses will maintain professionalism and integrity.

– A strong conclusion that restates your main themes.

Through the Library, use at least two peer-reviewed articles and two additional evidence-based resources as needed to support your work.

Directions:

The body of your paper should have separate paragraphs for items 1-3.

  1. Discuss the leadership role of the professional nurse, including:
    1. What leadership characteristics are demonstrated by the professional nurse
    2. How it impacts patients and co-workers
    3. Use article to support discussion
  2. Discuss the nurse’s responsibilities related to maintaining integrity and nurse conduct
    1. Use supporting documentation (e.g., article, ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses, or other scholarly resource)
  3. Develop a plan for how nurses can maintain professionalism and integrity.
    1. Include at least three examples
    2. Include how this was addressed in letter of intent.
  4. Attach as an appendix, revised letter of intent and resume.
  5. Find at least two peer-reviewed articles and two evidence-based resources related to area to support discussion. Examples of other resources you can use to develop paper:
    1. American Nurses Association Code of Ethics for Nurses
    2. State Board of Nursing Nurse Practice Act and regulations regarding nursing practice

APA Guidelines

Please address the following in the expository paper:

  1. Include proper APA citation of at least one peer-reviewed article and other evidence-based resources as needed to support your work. Your paper should demonstrate exceptional content, organization, style and mechanics.
  2. The paper should include a clearly identifiable thesis statement and discuss a minimum of three points which support the thesis.
  3. The paper should be very well ordered and each paragraph must have a strong internal organization. Transitions between and within paragraphs should be clear. Your writing style should be appropriate to the Assignment, fresh (interesting to read), accurate, (no far-fetched, unsupported comments), precise (say what you mean), and concise (not wordy).
  4. The viewpoint and purpose should be clearly established and sustained.
  5. The writing should be well ordered, logical and unified, as well as original and insightful.
  6. Include a title page and reference page and make sure your writing is free of serious errors. Grammar, punctuation and spelling should help to clarify the meaning of your paper by following accepted Standard English conventions. Your paper should be double spaced and use a 12 point font,
  7. Citations must follow APA guidelines. Remember: You must cite at least one peer-reviewed journal article from the online library, and use other evidence-based resources as needed to support your work.
