Overview of the Components of the Instructional Method Paper

The nurse educator must choose instructional methods based on the evidence that supports the most effective methods to teach in relation to the learner and the context.

Present, apply and analyze an instructional method to implement for an educational initiative. The method chosen should be relative to an instructional method you are implementing for an educational initiative during your clinical practicum with your preceptor this semester.  

Consider selecting a teaching strategy that promotes critical thinking, and engages the audience in the learning process. 

  1. Title Page
  2. Brief Introduction of the environment and purpose of the educational initiative.
  3. What are the learning objectives?
  4. Discuss the learner population, who are they?
  5. Discussion of the method of instruction chosen should include the following:
    • Discuss how the educator would assess what the learning needs are for the population and how the assessment method relates to selected instructional method; support why it is applicable to the strategy you will implement.
    • Discuss the method of instruction chosen, characteristics, concepts, format etc.
    • Support why this is the optimal method to initiate change for this population.
    • Discuss the domain(s) of learning and how the strategy supports the learning domain.
    • Discuss how the chosen method meets the learning objectives (the expected outcomes).
    • Include the advantages and limitations of the strategy chosen.

 

  1. Discuss how you would implement the chosen instructional method for the project.
  • Step by step discussion of how this method will be executed (may use chart or bullets)
  • These are some areas to consider in the discussion: why does the method suit this type of audience, are you using groups, online or face to face instruction or other, collaboration, concepts, instructions, and tools, assignments, resources, required to implement the strategy .
  • Discuss at least one technique the educator can include when teaching using this chosen method that would enhance teaching effectiveness.
