DETAILS OF TASK: STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO PREPARE THEIR
OWN MODEL OF PLAY.
A model of play is important as a beginning teacher to help you conceptualize
your ideas in relation to play and pedagogy. In this assignment, you will
demonstrate how theoretical ideas are placed into practice.
You need to include:
•A provision of an original model of play and pedagogy. A rationale of how
you plan to use this model in your professional practice.
•An explanation of theoretical ideas that informs your model.
•A provision of a play observation and analysis using theoretical ideas.
•A critical reflection of playing your pedagogical role and how do you account in
your pedagogy from the child’s perspective.

Presentation requirements: Assignment needs to include:
Model of Play (200 words). You need to provide an original model of play and a
brief explanation of the different elements selected in the play model. Remember you
need to refer back to your model throughout the assignment.
Theoretical discussion (700 words). This section needs to include an explanation of
two theoretical ideas used in model of play.
Play Example (500 words). You need to include a play example and analyse it using
two theoretical ideas.
Explanation of your pedagogical role in relation to how you account the child’s
perspective (600 words). You need to critically reflect on your pedagogical role in the
play example provided. You need to explain how you see the child’s perspective in this
play example and it’s importance in play.
