Business Studies Assignment on Behavioral Research

Behavioral Research REFLECTION GUIDELINES
“The good life is a process, not a state of being. It is a direction, not a destination.” Carl Rogers
“The purpose of the research participant pool is twofold. First, it provides an opportunity for
students to participate in current, on-going research from a variety of behavioral disciplines.
Second, it facilitates research by providing behavioral researchers’ access to willing
participants.” “Before conducting these experiments, the University closely reviews what we
will be doing to ensure that there are no risks to students. In the unlikely event that you are not
comfortable with some aspect of a study, you are free to stop participation at any time. All
information you share with us and all aspects about your participation are kept strictly
confidential.” You may choose not to participate in any studies. If you do not choose to
participate, choose the 2nd assignment option, below.
The research studies are posted at the Manning Behavioral Lab. You’ll find a description of the
Manning Behavioral Lab here https://www.uml.edu/MSB/Students/Blab.aspx.

Option 2: Alternative Assignment: (If you chose not to participate in any research study)
You may write a paper that provides information you’ve researched on the use of behavioral
research studies and their relevance to business. Provide an example. In this paper you may
address reasons why or why not people choose to be a participant, and indicate if/how this
influenced your decision. Describe how your decision not to participate may impact your
learning experience, now and in the future. What have you learned about yourself through this
exercise?
