Human service professionals preparing to interview clients is essential in conducting an organized and thorough conversation. Determining the core elements of an effective interview environment should be considered as a part of the preparation process.
Think about a human service professional interviewing a client, and address each of these 5 topics.  Write at least one paragraph for each of these 5 topics.  Paragraphs should be at least 40 words.  Make sure to have at least one quote from a source in each paragraph of the paper.  Feel free to use the weekly reading, sources in my class discussion posts or research to find sources.

Tip:  Write down these 5 topics before starting the reading in the required learning activity box.  Look for quotes you can use and make notes while you are doing your reading for the week.  Feel free to use quotes from sources I mention in my class discussion posts.

  1. Identify and describeat least two elements important in structuring the physical interview process.  Consider office sound and office decor. tip: Look for the reading titled, “Quality of Psychotherapy Influenced by Office Décor”. Remember this is for a human service professional talking to a client.

3.Address the role of note taking and documentation of a human service professional talking to a client.  tip: Look for the reading titled, “Documentation in Counseling Records”.  Consider one or more of the following interview recall, accurate clinical assessments, compliance, and information management.
