Introduction
Reflection in writing creates enhancement in the ability to solve related problems. The connection between learning through reasoning and a big performance is by self-efficacy or individual assessment of ability to organize and perform courses to achieve intended goals. Reflection in writing process plays a major role in one establishing his/her strong points or weaknesses. Writing involves various processes; this involves various stages as, planning, drafting, revision, editing, proofreading, and presenting. For one to produce a well-written material, an individual should efficiently follow the procedure. Reflection is an influential mechanism as after assessment of one’s performance, an individual can form strategies to improve his/her works in future.
The Planning Stage
Planning helps in predicting how the text will look like. In this stage, I was in a position to describe the writing subject and content area. This stage ensures that one is conscious of any particular content or requirements that may be provided by the teacher. It is also useful to research and scrutinize information basis if required and to calculate the time required to conclude the writing duty. Writing could take a lot of time; therefore, postponing must be avoided. In this stage, I made efforts to comprehend the topic, note down whichever ideas, words, thoughts and phrases that I felt that they suited a particular subject. For instance, while I was doing the paper on “Most significant educational event”, I first formed introductory arguments into an outlined format and followed logical coherence that fitted essay format of introduction, body, and conclusion. I put ideas in sub-groups that finally resulted in well-organized paragraphs. I normally find it easy for me to put down a well-planned format on how to tackle a particular text, whether it is the time I will take or what to write.
The Drafting Stage
The initial draft of one’s text should focus on the content. In this regard, at the drafting phase, I do not consider or mind about the language, features like grammar, spelling, and punctuation. I ensure that I am flexible and look for the best methods on how to communicate my ideas. One should not take much time when checking spelling and other non-vital issues at this particular point to maintain the flow. The introduction should present the text’s subject. The writer should employ a stronger technique that must bring the attention of the reader close to him/her to continue reading. For instance, I always outline arousing facts on the topic under discussion. For every paragraph in the body, I delineate particular ideas or features of the general topic and start with a subject sentence that should familiarize the reader on the subsequent part of the passage. I make sure that I provide explanations and adequate supporting sentences, which are followed by relevant examples. At the conclusion, I outline summation remarks and repeat important ideas in the text. I ensure that I summarize each text with a strong statement, which makes the reader inquire for more. I usually put down two to three drafts, which ensure that I form an excellent text.
The Revising Stage
Revision is a significant stage as no text that should be presented without the writer going through it once or twice which is even much better. Revising refers to as assessing individual text’s content and ensuring that what one wrote is as included in the planning stage. Evaluation of whether one wrote about the intended topic, whether individual applied relevant examples, and argument is important. I always make certain that the text flows smoothly and that the concepts are following each other accordingly. I normally revise the text thrice to make sure that I make an excellent essay.
The Editing Stage
Editing ensures language accuracy, text mechanics, for instance, italics, abbreviations, and numbering. Editing is a field that involves judging on the individual text; it entails language and technicalities assessment. In my work, I always ensure that spelling is maintained and I reread the essay to ensure a perfect text. Language construction is essential; therefore, a writer should certify that the writing is precise. This area gives me hard time as I may take long to edit my work. In this regard, I think more editing skills are required to make my work simple and easy to understand.
The Proofreading Stage
Proofreading enhances brushing away the defects before presenting the final copy. In the “compare and contrast paper,” I assessed minute mistakes, which may not be noted in revising and editing stages. To enhance accuracy in proofreading, I did it twice, and in the second time I was able to nail out all the mistakes.
The Presentation Stage
One should be on the look out to note more minute errors on screen corrections. While doing the “argument paper,” I was in a position to perfect the work. When employing a computer, I am all the time cautious with the application of the heading levels, spacing, and usage of the font. When my work is handwritten, I always use a ruler to form margins on both sides of the page. I also adhere to other instructions as provided by the teacher. Furthermore, I ensure that I employ indentation for every paragraph when a text is academic and follow strict citation as per the instructions.
