Interagency Emergency Health Kit to include treatment for non-communicable diseases in
natural disasters and complex emergencies. BMJ global health, 1(3), e000128.
The article is aimed at bringing into light the importance of incorporating simple
medicinal devices and medicines in the Interagency Emergency Health Kit (IEHK). The non-
communicable diseases have been a rare issue in times of emergency and this has led to the
neglection of including such medicines in the emergency kits. However, the article suggests that
there is need to bring the medicines into the kit such as few drugs and devices which can prevent
the non-communicable diseases (NCD). These NCDs include hypertension, diabetes and chronic
respiratory diseases. The paper has also made a look into the resources that are to manage the
chronic as well as the acute presentations. The choice of the article has been triggered by the fact
that it reacts to the less seen acts in the society. There are many issues that go untreated due to
the fact that the infection is non communicable. With the article, we shall be able to argue out the
importance of the little medicines that re to be contained in the survival kit.

interacting with them. The journal is also aimed at bringing forward a review on the recent
glucagon pharmaceutical use in treatment of type1 diabetes. The choice of the journal will be
very useful in the research paper as it will bring into light the idea of diabetes treatment in the
times of emergency. Inclusion of glucagon in the emergency kit will ensure that the diabetic
patients are well served during the state of an emergency. This will ensure that the kit created for
the times of emergency is accommodating all the patients on site.
