Manchester City completes a mega-bid by signing Raheem Sterling, the Liverpool star

The move to the Manchester City is now complete for the former Liverpool star, Raheem Sterling. At 20 years of age, Sterling is the most expensive English football player ever. The reported mega-bid of $76 million that was paid to Liverpool by Manchester City for Sterling makes him expensive than senior players like David Beckham and Wayne Rooney- (follow the link for more information). The deal that Sterling has signed with Manchester City will last for five years.

Despite having made 95 appearances in the Premier League, his signing comes after Gareth Bale’s, the Real Madrid player as the most costly British signing. From the time he made his debut during the 2011/1012 season in Liverpool, this Jamaican born player has so far netted 18 goals in the top division for England. He has made 16 appearances for Jamaica and scored one goal.

The Queens Park Rangers, his former club that was relegated from the English Premier League during the last season will get $15.2 million following this transfer because it inserted a 20 percent sell-on clause in his contract while he was signed by Liverpool.

Sterling says that he is happy and relieved after completing the protracted $76 million move to Manchester City from Liverpool and he is consistently ready for major honors’ challenges- (follow the link for more information). The player expressed confidence after the signing saying that he hopes to keep improving as a player after becoming the most expensive football player in his country.

His signing is the first one for Manchester City during this transfer window. Manchester City has sold two players only during this season, Matija Nastasic and Scott Sinclair. Liverpool on the other hand signed James Milner after the expiry of his contract.

In the current transfer market, Liverpool is among the English football clubs that have been very active. It has signed Adam Bogdan, Roberto Firmino, Danny Ings, Nathaniel Clyne and Joe Gomez. In a statement that was posted on its site, the club confirmed that Raheem Sterling had completed the move to Manchester City.

Sterling leaves Anfields after making 129 appearances and scoring 23 goals. Liverpool added that it wishes Sterling well.

Manchester City and Manuel Pellegrini, the manager, were more enthusiastic about the move. On the club’s website, the Chilean manager said that Sterling is among the leading attacking players in the current football world. He said that the club is looking forward to seeing him join the squad later in the week in Australia.

The club expressed confidence in him saying that he is young, skillful and quick forward- (follow the link for more information). City manager further said that he is certain that the fans will also be excited when they see Sterling in action. Sterling has already shown his talent with his record.

However, for Manchester City, Sterling is not done yet. The club believes that he has the aura, the stardust sprinkle that hovers over the best players- (follow the link for more information).

Meanwhile, Brendan Rodgers, the Liverpool manager said that the club has no grudge or hard feelings for Sterling although the player agitated for the move refusing to join Thailand during his pre-season tour.
